I like compilations, mixtapes and playlists.
The Vinyl Frontier is all about the making of an interstellar compilation called the Voyager Golden Record, which NASA fixed to the side of Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 in 1977.
The record had space for just 90 minutes of Earth’s music.
Think of it: encapsulate human music in a measly hour-and-a-half.
It was while researching the book, to put myself in the shoes of Carl Sagan and his team, that I started compiling my own. These are the songs I’d send.
